Positive Paths Child & Youth Services provides a variety of services to help ensure proper development and implementation of mental health, behavioral, social and emotional needs to support children, young adults, and their families.
The goal of Positive Paths is to help provide it's clients with the greatest extent of opportunities and tools to help children ages 3-18 thrive. With a strengths-based approach, we help clients by providing direct coaching for mental health, emotional, social and behavioral needs . In addition, Positive Paths supports clients by reviewing and consulting on current home and school supports and educational plans (i.e., 504 Plan, SST supports, IEP supports) to provide next steps and recommendations as well as specific strategies and implementation tools for optimum success and well-being in a variety of social and school settings. The key is to help children, youth and families through direct coaching, consulting and advocacy that embraces their child's unique potential and gifts for continued growth and success,.
Positive Paths coaching model focuses on social/emotional, mental health and behavioral supports through building hope, strength, acceptance and a positive outlook. Through strengthening a child's connection and understanding of their unique talents and self-worth, we work on building skills and strategies to address whatever challenges they may be facing, while assisting families with educational and community supports and resources that reinforce the positive changes for their children.
Examples of services include: -Therapeutic coaching for mental health, social/emotional and behavioral needs - Strength-based solutions - Mindfulness, Coping Skills - Tools for Modifying Behavior/Anger Reduction -Anxiety and Depression Supports and Tools - Crisis Intervention -Trauma Coaching and Supports - Grief Counseling - Addressing Advocacy and Social Justice Issues, with guidance on resources and community supports available - Review of current student Educational supports and consultation on next steps - SST preparation - IEP preparation - IEP review of services and recommendations (Include consultation and report of recommendations)
About the Business Owner: Angela C. Barber MA,, Special Education M.S., Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Registered with BBS APCC (Associate Professional Clinical Counselor) SCC-C (Certificated Grief, Crisis and Christian Counselor) • 22 years K-12 public education experience as Educational Specialist, Program Specialist and Instructional & Behavioral Support Specialist for children and youth with disabilities and at-risk. • Over 5 years of experience specifically providing direct Behavioral/Social/Emotional and Mental Health supports and services to children and youth ages 5 - 17. •. Specialized training and experience in ABA practices and working with children and youth with Autism, Conduct Disorder, Suicidal Ideation, and Addictive Disorders •. Training and experience using DBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Harm Reduction, Nurtured Heart, AGAPE supports, Trauma-Informed Care, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Suicide Prevention, Crisis Intervention and Grief Counseling • Education Specialist in Special Education, Interventions, Inclusion, and LRE.
Consultation and services can be provided in a variety of settings including at-home and remote services.
